Categories backed by evidence
We check which categories the businesses already showing for your key searches rely on, then pick a primary that matches your core work and a few secondaries that are genuinely true.
In fact, a good share of Brantford searches never reach a website. “brantford walk in clinics open today”, “emergency dentist brantford open now” and “hair salon brantford open sunday” come from people who want a name, a time and a route. They scan the pins, glance at the hours and the star rating, then tap call or directions. So whatever your Business Profile says at that moment is your sales pitch, and Google Maps SEO makes sure it is right.
Location matters too, because errands here gather around a few busy places. Lynden Park Mall sits at the Highway 403 and Wayne Gretzky Parkway interchange, and people search it by name: “lynden park mall dental”, “hair salons brantford lynden park mall”. Similarly, King George Road runs north through a long chain of plazas where several businesses can share one lot. Downtown, older buildings on Colborne Street often hold more than one tenant behind a single civic number. So a pin dropped on the wrong unit, or an address missing its suite, sends customers walking the wrong way.
Hours, however, carry just as much weight. The Brantford Farmers’ Market, trading downtown since 1848, opens Fridays and Saturdays all year, and people still look up “brantford farmers market holiday hours” and “brantford farmers market christmas hours” because holiday weeks change things. Every business has its own version of that, such as Sunday hours, winter hours or a statutory holiday closure. When the profile lags behind, Google can show you as closed to the very people who were ready to come.
Search demand
Google.ca suggestions collected on 5 October 2026. Most end in a time word or a named place, and only a complete profile can match either.
An open now or open sunday search can only return businesses whose hours say so. Similarly, a pin in the middle of a King George Road plaza lot, or an address with no unit in a shared Colborne Street building, sends people to the wrong door. That is why our Google Maps SEO starts with a first-month audit of the basics: regular and holiday hours, address format, pin, phone, website link and categories. Reviews and posts come afterwards.
Common snags
These are the faults our Google Maps SEO audits meet most often, so we check for them in roughly this order.
If a profile shows weekday hours only, Google cannot answer “open sunday” on your behalf, and on a statutory holiday it may simply guess. Special hours for Family Day, Christmas week and other closures take a minute to enter and decide whether you appear at all.
Strip plazas along the north-end corridors and around Lynden Park Mall often share one civic number, so Google may set your marker at the roadside sign or on a neighbour’s storefront. So moving it to your actual entrance and adding the unit to the address line settles most “we could not find you” complaints.
The primary category is one of the strongest relevance signals in a profile. Choosing a broad one because a competitor uses it, or because it sounds bigger, can hide you from the specific searches that actually bring in work.
Someone driving in from Paris, or across the river from Eagle Place, wants to recognize your building before parking. Photos of the street front, the sign, the parking and the door do more for a first visit than one more logo.
A move, a new name or a previous owner can leave an old profile live. As a result, reviews split between the two, customers find the outdated address and Google cannot tell which to trust. Finally, merging it or marking it as moved clears the confusion.
The work
We check which categories the businesses already showing for your key searches rely on, then pick a primary that matches your core work and a few secondaries that are genuinely true.
One address format, unit included, agreed with you and used everywhere, with the marker placed on your door using satellite and street views.
Ontario statutory holidays, summer and winter schedules and any Christmas-season changes set out with you once a year, then entered before each date comes round.
Those profile sections completed in customers’ own phrasing, such as “direct billing”, “Sunday appointments” or “windrow clearing”, so the listing can meet narrower requests.
A simple link or counter card for staff to offer after a good visit, plus replies drafted for your approval, including calm, factual answers to the occasional unhappy customer.
Because members of the public and Google itself can propose changes, we review the live listing every month, reject wrong edits and watch for duplicates.
Done carefully
The rules we follow on every account, written down so you can hold us to them.
A profile built on true information has nothing to fear from Google’s next sweep. One built on shortcuts can vanish overnight.
Some sellers still push shortcuts such as padding the business name with “Brantford”, passing off a mailbox as a storefront, or swapping discounts for five-star reviews. Each breaks Google’s guidelines for Business Profiles, so it can get a profile suspended. We follow the published rules and give our reasons whenever we say no.

Questions
Use the mall’s civic address with your unit, and place the pin on your storefront rather than in the parking lot. Also name the nearest entrance in your description, and add a photo of your sign from the corridor.
Keep the address field formal: street, unit, Brantford, ON and postal code. However, the neighbourhood can appear in the description and posts, for instance “serving West Brant families”, wherever that is true.
Yes, because a service-area business can hide its street address and list the places it covers instead, such as Brantford, Paris, St. George and Burford.
They carry little ranking weight, but people browsing the map do read them. For example, a note about Sunday hours or a stall at the farmers’ market shows the business is active.
Ask every satisfied customer in a way that takes seconds, such as a link by text or a card at the counter. Then answer each review within a few days, and compare your count and recency with the listings shown beside you.
No, because Google Maps SEO is part of local SEO and sits inside every tier. Plans are $250, $350 or $550 monthly, priced in Canadian dollars, and none requires a signed contract.
